Niuean Language Week

Happy Niuean language week everyone, I hope you all had a great holidays. Since its Niuean language week im going to be sharing some facts i learnt about Niue this week.

Niuean Facts

One fact that caught my eye was that, the island is commonly called "The Rock" a reference to Niue being one of the biggest raised coral islands in the world.

Fact 2

Niue is an elevated coral atoll with fringing coral reefs encircling steep limestone cliffs. It has a landmass of 259 km and its highest point is about 60 meters above sea level.

Fact 3

Niue has a humble population of around 1,600 residents, while a whopping 22,200 Niuean's live in New Zealand. Niuean's have New Zealand citizenship making living and travelling overseas a breeze. This statistic also means that there are more people speaking Niue’s native language, Vagahau Niue or Niuean, overseas than in Niue

Thats all for today. I hope you all have a great day or night. Bye bloggers.😊

1st blog of lockdown

As you can see from the title, this is my first blog since lockdown has started. Lockdown was a very surprising thing that just popped up, and im pretty sure at least some of us have been getting bored.

This week some of the students of Wesley intermediate was supposed to go sports camp.(if you don't know what sports camp is, i'll be putting a video in to show you the perks of sports camp) I think alot of people were very bummed out when the prime minster put us in lockdown, because i could tell that sports camp was going to be very fun for everyone.

everyone stay strong and stay safe have a good week and god bless😊🙏

Auckland New Zealand Museum Trip.

Hello Bloggers, Today I'm going to talk about My day on Thursday  at the museum. That day we went to the Auckland Museum and it was very fun. There was a place in the Museum that i really enjoyed and it was definitely the volcano room, it was still the same as always but if you don't know what the volcano room is in the museum is, here is a photo.

if you see closely you can see the house and in there is a simulation of when a volcano erupts it was pretty cool i guess you can say and the floor shakes when the volcano erupts for an example its like when a earthquake happens and you can feel everything shake that's what my friends and I felt.

(Warning this is some real sad stuff that happened in real life i don't recommend reading this part if you can get sad or scared easily)

There was a gallery in the museum which i really did not enjoy neither did my friends or my teacher because it was about the holocaust where in world war 2 the Nazis killed six million Jews because of their collaborations with World war 2. Jews would also be forced into concentration camps were they would most likely get killed. When people would have showers their, instead of water they would get gassed and die. Their was a saying in that gallery but i can't remember what it actually said but it went something like "We burned books and ended with body's"  It kinda sounded like that and what it meant was that they had furnaces where they would just burn books but they ended up burning people alive. here are some photos of the holocaust.

These photos are pretty horrifying. That's how bad it was back then and we should be grateful its not happening now although it shouldn't of happened either way.

But that's all im going to share today here's a photo collage i put together of some of the things we saw during our time at the museum.

Have a good life everyone 😊

Animals during the war

In Room 5 this week we have been reading books on war. One of the books that i really enjoyed reading was First world war Mascots. So this book talks about the animals during World War 1. The book talked about how horses were used for cavalry and also used to pull guns and supplies. There were also dogs who were trained to look for wounded soldiers and other animals were used as mascots or they were just there to cheer up the soldiers, And that was a reason why i enjoyed the text.

(if you wanna read the text some more the link is highlighted blue)

The Dawn Raids

1971 the year of the Dawn Raids,

In the early morning the pasifika people wake up to the policemen of New Zealand yelling at them through there sirens. The Polynesian people get rushed out of there homes because the Police were racist back then and they were thinking they have overstayed when it was the white people (im not racist) from Canada,England, Etc, that have overstayed.

which was horrible because pasfika people and white people were not treated equally. So like the Black panthers who took charge for there people back in 1966, the Polynesian did the same and called themselves the Polynesian Panthers which are still fighting to this day.

I hope you could watch this video to learn more about the Polynesian Panthers  The Polynesian Panthers video

West wave pools

hey, bloggers it's me Sydney, and i hope you guys had a good day or night I don't know? but last week Friday was super awesome we went too.... WEST WAVE POOLS it was super fun but the sad thing was there were no waves because the lifeguards said it was broken it kinda bummed me and my friends, but it was still cool. Their was also a hydro slide which looked soo cool, i went down the slide so much. The main pool was so huge and when you would look down on to the pool from the top you could see our whole school, the pool was full of people. My favorite part was going into the spa and the lazy river and it was nice and relaxing whenever i was in the spa or the lazy river but everyone barely went into the lazy river so it was quite most times but sometimes you can hear the others shouting from the main pool, but all together It was fun, here are some photos of the pool we went to. Anyways bloggers have an awesome day bye, bye bloggers✌👋
